About Georg Jensen Silver Designers Nanna and Jorgen Ditzel

Both Nanna and Jorgen Ditzel were educated in the arts. They focused on furniture design and met while attending the Danish School of Arts, Crafts and Design. Establishing themselves in Copenhagen as a team, Nanna and Jorgen created extensive and award-winning furniture designs. According to Georg Jensen Jewelry, by Anscombe, Gelfer-Jorgensen, Greenbaum, and Soro, (Yale University Press, 2005), the team forayed into jewelry design in the early 1950s and started working for the Georg Jensen Company in 1954. Their unique designs were modernist, often with smooth flowing edges.

Jorgen died before reaching the age of 40, but Nanna continued designing both furniture and jewelry. She received numerous awards for her work and remained active in design until she died in 2005.
