This Art Nouveau Georg Jensen-designed brooch is rare as it has a luminescent blue synthetic sapphire cabochon. The incredible detail and finishing is an excellent example of the workmanship for which Georg Jensen remains so revered today.
Synthetic sapphires come from the same material as natural sapphires, corundum, but are made in a controlled lab environment. Synthetic sapphires look identical to natural sapphires but lack the inclusions that occur in nature.
