This is a wonderful solid sterling silver choker necklace made in Taxco, Mexico. This choker can be worn alone or with a pendant of the proper dimension.

Markings: TE-11, Mexico and 925, indicating the piece is sterling silver
This piece is marked Mexico 925, indicating it is sterling silver and crafted in Mexico. It is also signed with the artist's mark TE-11. In the 1970s, Mexico put this marking system in place. The "T" is for Taxco and the marker is the 11th silversmith on record whose first or last name starts with "E". Unfortunately, this system isn't always reliable.
This choker necklace was made in Taxco de Alarcon, often just called Taxco. Taxco is a city located in the Mexican state of Guerrero; it is about 100 miles southwest of Mexico City. Taxco is a very old and beautiful city that pre-dates the arrival of the Spanish. Taxco has a long history with silver, as it was mined there at the time of the Aztec and used even then to create beautiful jewelry with exceptional craftsmanship.
