About Georg Jensen Designer Hugo Liisberg

Hugo Liisberg, born 1899, was a talented Danish sculptor and ceramist whose work centered on animals in their natural habitats. Early in his career, he studied at Copenhagen’s Royal Porcelain Manufactory and later honed his craft at the Bourdelles School in Paris, refining a style that captured lifelike motion and detail. Although he produced only a handful of designs for Georg Jensen in the 1940s, Liisberg made a memorable impact by incorporating animal motifs in silver, including a fawn and ducks in flight. His pieces reflect a deep appreciation for nature—an extension of the artistic vision he developed throughout his years as both a sculptor and ceramist.
