About Silver Maker Lawrence Foss
Born in 1920 in Massachusetts, Lawrence Foss was an exceptional fine silver jewelry designer from the Arts and Crafts period. He was introduced to silver design at a young age while working with Gilbert Oakes, his neighbor and a renowned jewelry designer. Working as a machinist in highly skilled positions, Foss continued to develop his understanding and skill at forming materials. While a machinist, Foss created his own silver jewelry pieces and was eventually discovered by Georg Jensen. He worked at Georg Jensen for six years, eventually having his own jewelry line. Lawrence returned to machining full-time for several years and then retired to create individually made jewelry pieces for the balance of his career. His works are now highly sought after.
