William Spratling Ebony Bracelet in Sterling Silver
This striking ebony and sterling silver bracelet is a testament to the exceptional talent of William Spratling, the father of the Mexican Silver Renaissance. Renowned for his ability to blend rustic elegance with modernist influences, this mid-century piece highlights his extraordinary craftsmanship. The design features contrasting elements of dark ebony wood and shimmering sterling silver, creating a timeless aesthetic.
Highlighted in Mexican Silver by Penny Morrill and Carole Berk (Shiffer Publishing, Ltd., 2007, page 49) and Spratling Silver: A Field Guide by Phyllis Goddard (Kennan Tyler Paine, 2003, page 42), this bracelet is an important and rare collector’s piece. Based on the hallmarks, it was likely crafted between 1940 and 1944.
